Woodstock Baptist Church Life Today

Church Life Today

Sunday morning Worship 10.30am

We begin our time in church together with songs of praise and worship, prayer and a children's talk. The words for the songs appear on the screen and the service is recorded and uploaded onto the church website.

We welcome children in our church community and provide Creche & Sunday school classes for them to learn more about Jesus. Children are invited to Sunday school after the offering is taken up.

Our formal time of teaching, prayer and worship usually concludes before noon when the whole church comes together for refreshments which are served in the coffee lounge at the rear of the church.

Housegroups

We have house groups running in Woodstock and Freeland. Details can be found on the menu bar.

Men's Breakfast

We meet once a month for breakfast, study, fellowship and prayer 8.30am on the first Saturday of the month

Prayer

Regular times of group prayer as well as guided prayer are offered at various times in the week, details are fond in the newsletter or by contacting us

We believe prayer changes situations and prayer groups meet weekly and monthly to intercede on behalf of others and seek the coming of Gods kingdom in the lives of individuals and communities.

The Christian walk of faith cannot be undertaken alone, WBC offers a loving and supportive community for all ages and stages of life , seeking to encourage a deeper relationship with God and one another.

Social Action

WBC played a key role in establishing the local foodbank and we remain supporters of North Oxfordshire Community Foodbank and are a hub for collection and distribution of food parcels.

The wider commnity

We share in the life of the town as well as the local Cluster of Baptist churches, that God's kingdom might come in North Oxordshire

Fun

There have been many social times in the life of WBC where we have met to share fun and food together, more are planned!

A list of planned formal and informal meetings only tells part of the story of WBC. As a branch of Christ's family, we aim to help, support and encourage one another in all parts of our lives.

Church Governance

A Baptist church is interdependent with other Baptist churches and aims to be self supporting in regard to its finance and property.

Authority to discern Gods will for the life of the church ultimately rests with the Church Members Meeting assisted by a Diaconate and Minister. Membership is open to all who profess Jesus as their personal saviour and Lord .

However membership of the church is not a requirement or expectation for all. We enjoy fellowship with folk at various stages on their personal journey of faith, recognising that for some formal membership of the church may not be the most appropriate expression of their links to our faith community; we are fellow pilgrims traveling together; all are welcome.

As Baptists our faith is centered on the life and teaching of Jesus, believing that we are called to trust and follow him together in Christian discipleship.

Woodstock Baptist Church exists to bear witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world; to share in his mission and to make known his faithful and saving love for all creation.

As Baptists we believe that each Christian has a duty to share God's concern for his world with others. We work with the wider Christian family to promote justice, social welfare, healing, education and peace within our own community and in the wider world.
